This paper discusses the overrepresentation of young Aboriginal people in the criminal justice system. It discusses how diversion (diversionary processes) could reduce this overrepresentation. The paper reports on the findings of a project examining the 1990 offender cohorts’ contact with the Queensland juvenile justice system.
