This study conducted a systematic review of the literature to identify barriers to driver licensing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. The findings revealed that transport injuries disproportionately affect the Aboriginal population, with unlicensed driving being prevalent due to low license participation. Graduated Driver Licensing schemes, although successful in road safety, may disadvantage vulnerable groups. Factors such as remoteness, financial hardship, and unmet cultural needs further hinder access to licensing. The study emphasizes the importance of addressing these barriers to promote equitable access to licenses and improve health and social inclusion for Aboriginal communities.
