This despatch from Governor Macquarie (fifth Governor of the colony of New South Wales) to Earl Bathurst (Secretary of State for War and the Colonies) gives updates about the colony, reports the Governor's rules of 4 May 1816 (DOC3076) prohibiting Aboriginal people to be armed had been effective, reports his additional proclamations of 20 July (DOC3074) and 1 November 1816 succeeded in promoting peace between Aboriginal people and Europeans, and reports on the 28 December 1816 Friendly Meeting with Aboriginal people about the Native Institution.
