This book is a compilation of papers covering four general themes: the contrast between Indigenous and introduced placenames, attempts to discover and reinstate Indigenous placenames, interpretations of historical document sources, the role of placenames in the memory of Indigenous groups. The papers are separated by geographical jurisdiction.
