The Annual Report of the New South Wales Aborigines Protection Association provides a record of the 'work accomplished' by the Associaton in the year ending 1894. It includes accounts of the Cumeroogunga (late Maloga), Warangesda Brewarrina mission stations and La Perouse mission.

Many Aboriginal children removed from their families were forced to undertake apprenticeships and domestic service. Even before the Aborigines Protection Act 1909 (NSW) commenced, the Aborigines Protection Board and Aborigines Protection Association had the practice of apprenticing out Aboriginal children.

Apprenticeships and service

The government often removed Aboriginal children from missions and reserves, with the aim of assimilating them into a ‘civilised life’. Children were often placed on government-controlled stations, into homes and into apprenticeships. Removing children under specific laws and policies for Aboriginal children persisted until the late 1960s.
