Australian Law Reform Commission, Recognition of Aboriginal Customary Laws (Report, 12 June 1986)

Code: DOC0530Date: 12/6/1986Type: Executive Government

This report focuses on the historical and contemporary recognition of Indigenous customary law across Australia. It was written in response to the question posed by the Federal Attorney-General to the Australian Law Reform Commission of 'whether it would be desirable to apply either in whole or in part Aboriginal customary law to Aborigines, either generally or in particular areas or to those living in tribal conditions only' (page 5).
